Newport Heights PTA
The PTA at Newport Heights plans and supports many functions throughout the year. Every one of our activities and fundraisers goes back to our core goal of supporting our students and teachers at Newport Heights. For more information, visit the NHES website.
What does the PTA do for Newport Heights?
Some examples of the activities and programs for 2015-2016 are:
- Family Movie Nights – This year we will partner with our Newport Heights Foundation to provide a free BBQ and a fun family friendly movie. Save the date – October 2!
- Afterschool Programs throughout the year – Some of the fee based classes offered include Chess, Baton/Cheer, Basketball, Hip Hop, Fashion Camp, Science, and many more.
- Walk to School Days supporting a Healthy Heights!
- Red Ribbon Week –A nationwide effort to educate students about drug abuse. At Newport Heights we fold this into our Healthy Heights motto, and focus on a healthy lifestyle.
- Book Fair – The book fair helps us support our library at Newport Heights. The book fair allows students to buy quality books.
- Art Fair and Art Teacher - Displaying all of our children’s master pieces using techniques they learned through the Art Program
- Science Fair – Promoting Science to our young students. This year we will be coordinating with the Orange County Science Fair, and encouraging students to participate. We will also have lunch time science projects.
- 6th Grade Outdoor Science Camp – The PTA offsets the cost of Science Camp for students in need
- Talent Show – A student favorite!
- Jog-a-thon – Our Jog-a-thon shirts are a fun way for sponsors to support the school, and the kids love trying to see who can run the most laps.
- School Play – Last year we saw a wonderful rendition of Aladdin! Help us pick the play for 2014, it’s bound to be lots of fun for everyone.
- School Spirit Fridays – Show your support for Newport Heights by wearing red and blue on Fridays. The PTA will have lots of ‘Spirit Wear’ for those that want to wear their Shark Pride
- Fall Festival – A night of fun for our students with games, activities, and dinner for all of our Newport Heights families
- Water – The PTA provides bottled water and cups for every classroom
All of these activities require volunteers to help coordinate. We would love your support at PTA association meetings to help us plan our children’s future. Whether you have a spare minute, hour, or several hours, we appreciate your support and participation. Please stop by our table at any of our events, or drop any of your board members a note. We would love to hear from you. Thank you for your help!
